Strengthening Pedagogy with ICT (ICTAC W.S.I)

This project emphasises teaching and learning which targets both Staff and Pupils in the Art Department at St Francis Xavier’s College, Liverpool.

The Art Department is an expanding curriculum area at S.F.X with the ability and the willingness to embrace new technologies to raise standards throughout all Key Stage Levels.

The Art Department comprises of 2 Full time members and 1 Part Time member.

The Staff have agreed to training to operate within the Core Innovators mandate and look forward to the experience.

A cohort of 12 pupils (Art AS level) will engage in a ‘Fast Track’ opportunity to develop and extend pupils inherent skills.

Training will occupy two different strands:

Staff Training: Including the use of software, Cameras, Scanners and other input devices.

Evidence: Delivery of Art Lesson in Specialist ICT Room. Video of Lesson. Video Interview.

Student Training: Coursework and Examination work at AS Level.

Evidence: Student Video interviews. Digital Slideshow. Exhibition.

Presentation Templates for Parklands Show

Hi, Everybody,
I've sent Gill a number of PPT templates based on a 'school desk' theme. If members have any ideas in this area for presenting a 'collective' presentation at Parklands CLC I would be very grateful to hear from you? If Powerpoint is indeed the prefered method of presenting our stuff then we should all be in agreement! I will bring some examples to the Broughton Hall scheduled meeting (I've forgotten the time and date -its in my calendar!) then perhaps we can discuss it in depth.

Network Meeting

The ICT Core Innovators Network meeting is on Monday 5th March 2007.

Please ensure that you have clearance from school to attend this meeting, any problems – give Gill or Richard a call.

Lunch: 12.15pm- 1pm
Meeting: 1pm – 3.30pm

Venue : Room A1, Gateacre Community Comprehensive School, Grange Lane, Liverpool L25 4SD.

This meeting was originally to be held at Bosco CLC but the venue has been changed to Gateacre Comp (thanks to Ann for hosting). Lunch is available before the meeting – can you let Gill know whether you require lunch so that the catering arrangements and numbers can be finalised.

ICT Core Innovators Projects. (SFX)

Hello Everyone!
I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas break and everyone is back at work and fighting fit! My apologies regarding the BETT trip I had a major dose of flu and was unable to attend. Thanks for the invite to participate on this blog it should prove a useful vehicle to share our ideas and experiences. With this in mind, I should like to post developments regarding my own ICT Core Innovators project in this space!

I am currently working on Podcasts for the Department including ICT G.C.S.E Revision and stuff for the Core Innovators Project.
If members also regard Podcasts as a valuable resource tool then they should contact me for further information.

I currently work with Apple computers at home and in work and was wondering do we have other members who use Apple kit?
My intention is to set up a Mac User Group (MUG) for Liverpool to bring like minded enthusiasts together to share knowledge and experiences. If you know of anybody using Apple kit please let me know.

Finally, good luck with all Core Innovators Projects and I look forward to meeting up at the next scheduled meeting.

BETT 2007

Well we made it! After an early start we got to the centre just before 10 am.

Key dates for 2006-2007 ICT Core Innovators, Liverpool

Please make sure you have these dates in your diary and have permission to attend from school where appropriate. It would be a good idea to highlight them in your project planning timeline.

• Friday 12th January 2007 - Visit to the BETT Show, London.
• Monday 5th March 2007 - ICT Core Innovators Network meeting, Bosco CLC 1-3.30pm.
• Friday 4th May 2007 - Deadline for submission of Core Innovator Reports.
• Thursday 24th May - Core Innovators Celebration Event

Objectives:

The Core Innovators project is designed to:

· Provide high quality INSET
· Respond to local priorities for raising attainment
